How is my data protected?

Your documents stay on your device and are protected at rest with iOS file protection. The whole app is gated behind Face ID or your passcode, so nobody can browse your vault by picking up your phone.

How does iCloud backup work?

If you turn backup on, Hold Firm copies your files to your own Apple iCloud account, with a progress bar and a view of the storage you are using. The developer never receives or accesses those files.

Why is an expiry date wrong or showing N/A, and how do I edit it?

Automatic reading is a convenience aid. Some documents print dates in unusual formats, and some have no expiry at all, in which case you will see N/A. Open the document, tap edit, and set the correct issued or expiry date yourself. Always verify important dates against the original document.

How do I restore my files?

Go to backup and restore, choose the documents you want back, and Hold Firm pulls them from your iCloud backup. If a file is missing from the backup, you will get a clear message rather than a silent failure.

How do I scan a document?

Tap scan, point your camera at the page, and let edge detection and auto capture do the work. Keep going for multi page documents, then save. Everything becomes a single clean PDF.

Is my data sold or shared?

Never. There are no data brokers, no third-party ad tracking, and no analytics that read your document contents.

How do I delete my data?

Accepted Answer

Delete a document in the app to remove it from your device. Deleting the app removes its local data. If you used iCloud backup, remove the Hold Firm data from your iCloud storage settings too.
